“My work is an exploration into engaging the natural world beyond necessity and allowing it to speak to us from new perspectives.
I create in a single click of the shutter with minimal post-processing, fusing image capture techniques with experimental camera movements and in-the-moment variables of nature.“
At an early age, Dylan began expressing artistically, leading to his career as a cirque artist and co-founder of a professional cirque troupe and an elite youth troupe.
Dylan’s drive to create art through the camera lens was ignited after taking up photography to capture live performance moments of his cirque troupe.
Self-taught, Dylan’s process grew from an innate understanding of and eye for movement — honed by years as an acrobat and cirque artist/cirque instructor — melding with his deep appreciation of nature.
By predicting and processing natural movement and responding instantaneously with camera movements, Dylan creates in one click of the shutter in real time — together with nature — authentic images that are not staged: art that is discovered, not produced.
“Painted” with natural colors of light in the moment while embracing unscripted input from nature, each work by Dylan Keith is a singular meeting in time and space: a unique, multi-dimensional interaction with uncontrolled elements of nature that can not be replicated.
With minimal edits in post-processing, Dylan wields artistic intent during image capture to investigate and reveal the scope of nature’s voice.
In 2019, Dylan moved to a barrier island flush with varied nature that serves as inspiration for his photographic art.
